At the cemetery, Julia tells Spike how she was once forced by Vicious to choose between killing him or dying herself. Instead she chose to run away. Now, she chooses to run away with Spike. The two lovers head to Annie's store to try to rescue her from the Red Dragon, but they arrive a moment too late. Spike acquires artillery in preparation for battle with the mob and Julia decides to stay with him. The syndicate attacks and Spike fails to protect Julia.

EYECATCH

     Spike returns to the Bebop to have one last meal with Jet. Faye confronts him and Spike tells her that he must confront his past. Spike destructively invades the Red Dragon headquarters to end his quarrels with Vicious once and for all. Both Spike and Vicious fall in the final battle. The burden of life is finally lifted from Spike.
